How to read labels: drying
Knowing how to read the drying symbols on labels is very important for the best way to dry your laundry.
Drying outdoors
In warm weather, using the sun and wind to dry your clothes and laundry can also help you save money on your utility bill.
Here again, the label helps us understand where and how to place clothes to dry outdoors.
Symbols and indications
For example, if there is a square with a curvature at the top, it is necessary to hang the clothes on a clothesline in the open air. The same symbol may also have two diagonal lines on the top left corner, in which case the clothesline should be placed in the shade. These two lines can also remain alone within the square, strongly advising against placing the clothes in the sun, to prevent the fabric from becoming damaged or discoloured, or with other combinations, giving additional information for each individual garment.
The label also tells us whether to hang the garment on a hanger, for example, with a vertical line inside the square, or whether to place it on a flat surface, with a horizontal line inside the square.
Wringing
Finally, the icon reminiscent of a wrung-out cloth may also be present. In this case, it is possible to wring out the garment. If, however, the icon is crossed out after washing, the fabric should not be wrung out because it could be ruined.
